Arguably the most popular method of home brewing coffee is the V60. This classic cone-shaped brewer comes in all sizes and colors, but it is most notably made by coffee giant Hario. Using a V60 is super easy for home coffee aficionados of all skill levels and can be found at many local coffee shops to purchase.

Our friends at Hubbard & Cravens are masters of the Hario V60, and for the first issue of Batch, they shared the recipe they use at their cafés.

Hubbard & Cravens’ Hario V60 Recipe

Coffee

22 grams

Water

360g at 200°F

Grind

Medium-Fine

Brew Time

2:30-3:00

Hario V60 Filter
Grinder
Gooseneck Kettle
Kitchen Scale
Timer

Prep:

Pre-wet your filter with hot water, and then discard the water. Add grounds to filter and shake to level.

Brew:

Tare your scale and start your timer.

0:00 Add 40-50g of water, stir, and let bloom for 0:30.
0:30 Add water in 60-100g increments until at 360g.
