Tinker Coffee – The Firehouse

Praise be! Our friends at Tinker Coffee have come to Butler-Tarkington at the intersection of 56th & Illinois!

Welcome to Tinker Coffee – The Firehouse! You might remember The Firehouse as the previous spot of Chalet. Before that, it was Indianapolis Fire Station 16 (hence the name)!

Tinker Coffee’s newest location is as beautiful and perfect as you’d expect. They completely redid the interior and brought all those comfy and cozy Tinker vibes we’ve fallen in love with over the years. This time, they’re open later and will be serving up a bigger and better food & beverage menu throughout the evening. It is truly one of the coziest coffee shops in the city. (That back room with the cozy chairs and the fireplace? Are you kidding me???)

Listen, it’s no secret that we’ve all fallen in love with Tinker Coffee over the years. They roast exceptional coffees at their roasters on 16th St. The Tinker Coffee on Market St downtown is my go-to when I’m running errands, and I love walking my dog over to Tinker at The Amp. Their locations in the Indianapolis airport are musts when flying out of or into Indy. This new Firehouse location exceeds all expectations we could ever have out of a neighborhood coffee shop.

I couldn’t love the T-Bird crew anymore, and I am so stoked for the new Tinker Coffee location in Butler-Tarkington.

I mean, you can never, ever go wrong with the drip coffee options at Tinker. They always have two drip options ready to go: an ‘approachable’ option that is great for all coffee drinkers and an ‘adventurous’ option (my go-to) that is more adventurous and unconventional than typical drip coffees.

Not that we pick favorites here at the Indianapolis Coffee Guide, but I am going to go on record to say that their breakfast sandwich—”The Brekkie”—is my favorite breakfast sandwich in the city, especially if you get it on the scallion biscuit. I grew up in Tennessee, and therefore by nature, I know my way around a biscuit. I can’t get enough of The Brekkie. I just can’t.
