About Indie Coffee Roasters

Indie Coffee Roasters in Carmel is perfect. Though it’s named after a dog (Good boy, Indie!), this space is the opposite of a doghouse. Indie Coffee is located in a beautifully renovated, two-story residential-turned-commercial house that is just a few doors down from Carmel High School & Carmel Public Library in the heart of Carmel’s Arts & Design District.

Sure, it’s beautifully renovated. Sure, the roaster fills the space with the aroma of freshly roasted coffee. Sure, the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and highly trained. Sure, it’s the perfect atmosphere to catch up with a friend. Sure, it’s the best place to stock up on home brew equipment. Sure, it’s the best place to catch up with Diane (one of the owners) about what seeds she’s planning for her garden this year. And SURE, this is the best flat white I’ve had in a long time. OKAY. FINE. They just really hit it out of the park.

Scott Recommends

UGH. There’s so much to love at Indie Coffee Roasters in Carmel, so there’s also just so much to recommend. For years Indie Coffee was the closest café to me, so I became very comfortable with their menu. It’s one of those shops where you can ask the baristas for a recommendation, and they’ll walk you through what the best drink FOR YOU would be versus just telling you what’s popular.

They also roast all of their own single-origin coffees in-house, so they always have a wide variety of coffees available as pour overs. I LOVE a pour over because they usually means they are really familiar with the coffees and really put time and attention into learning how to brew and present them. I usually end up with whatever the baristas recommend on pour over. They also have a really great decaf that’s only available on pour over.
