This just in: there are bunch of new coffee shops in Indianapolis opening over the next few months, and I’m here to tell you all about them. Let’s do this.

OPEN NOW

Liberation Coffee – Outside Loop North West

Earlier this year, Liberation Coffee encountered an amazing problem – they outgrew their roasting space. Luckily, they found the perfect location at 79th Street & Zionsville Road. And the best part isn’t even that they share the space with a brewery and a food company – the best part is that with the new space comes a cafe!

Liberation JUST OPENED the doors to their first cafe concept in the new space. While the coffee shop is hustling, behind the scenes will be more coffee roasting than ever before.

The Haverstick – Keystone at the Crossing

I’m not gonna lie, The Haverstick creeped up on me! I haven’t had the chance to make it to this space yet, but judging from their instagram (@thehaverstick) the space is BEAUTIFUL. The cafe is actually on the campus of Church at the Crossing and is completely open to the public Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. Unfortunately, they don’t have weekend hours at this point, but maybe we can change that at some point. 🙂

Opening Soon

Indie Coffee Roasters – Main Street in Carmel

Carmelites, rejoice! Indie Coffee Roasters is opening its first brick-and-mortar cafe and roaster on Main Street in Carmel at the beginning of 2018. Since the inception of the company, the team has been roasting out of Porter Books & Bread in Lawrence, and over the last few months they’ve been renovating and revamping a space a block from Carmel High School in the Arts and Design District.

While I’ve yet to see the space on the inside, I can tell you that the first floor is going to be a crisp, clean coffee experience. On the second floor with be where the magic happens – daily roasting and coffee education classes.

Smash Social – Downtown

The next new shop on the list will be serving up much more than coffee – Smash Social is Indy’s first ping pong coffee shop.

Say whaaat?

The Smash HQ team is still chopping away at daily operational details (I’m sure there’s a lot of back and forth), but we do have some secret insider info:

  • Beer, wine, and delicious eats will also be on the menu
  • Prime location downtown on Ohio Street
  • Hours range from early in the morning to, well… early in the morning
  • The space is looking great and will be ready before we know it

Smash Social is going to be downtown’s go-to spot for speciality coffee, craft beer, bold wines, backhands, drop shots, skunks, and (without a doubt) Forrest Gump references.

Whatever they serve up, it’s destined to be a Smash.

Untitled Coat Check Coffee Project – 16th & the Monon

Neal & Paul Warner, brothers and masterminds behind Coat Check Coffee, have seen crazy success in the Athenaeum. With what I’m assuming could only be magic, they pump out crazy amounts of craft coffee at Coat Check at record speeds for such high-quality product. I’m in awe of what they do – always. When I heard that there’s a new project in the works for the up-and-coming area at 16th Street and the Monon, I just about fell to the floor.

Last I heard, the brothers haven’t settled on a name for the new location yet, but it’s coming sooner than you think. They’ve even started teasing photos of the build out on Instagram (see below). What I can tell you is that the quality is going to be better than EVER and will be set up for high volume. (And you didn’t hear this from me, but word is that they have a 3-way liquor license…)

Are there more…?

Okay, so there are a few more cafe concepts that are brewing, but it’s a little too early to spill too many details.

So what are your thoughts? Are you as excited as I am?
