About Helm Coffee

HELM! I love everything about Helm Coffee in Garfield Park, and I know you all do, too. Jillion Potter, the owner, has been around the Indy coffee scene for a few years now and has built some incredible relationships around town. She and her wife are two of the kindest people you will ever meet, and they really bring that into their space.

Helm is a fairly untraditional space, and there’s a lot about them that makes them unique.

First, Helm is a roaster first—they focus primarily on (impeccably) roasting some of the best specialty coffee in Indianapolis. They open their space as a small café for a few days over the weekend and offer a limited menu. It is, however, one of the best places to get coffee in Indianapolis.

Second, Helm is one of the most inclusive spaces you will find in Indianapolis—period. Jill, her wife, and their team care so much about everyone, and making sure their space is safe for all is a massively important part of their mission. Besides talking the talk, they also walk the walk by offering many different support groups and events in their space, including: groups for new mothers, the LGBTQ+ community, women, and, well, everyone.

Helm is just that place, you know? We love everything about what they do, and I’m excited to keep seeing how they impact their community and the coffee community.

Scott Recommends

Helm touts themselves as a roaster first who happens to open up their space a few days a week to serve their coffee. You won’t find a fully robust café menu, but what you will find is very intentional and very delicious.

I always get a pourover of whatever they’re recommending, but really you can’t go wrong with anything.
