About Coat Check Coffee

It’s hard to talk about Indianapolis Coffee without bringing up Coat Check Coffee. (Don’t believe me? Just ask the NYT.)

Located in the literal coat check closet of the historic Athenaseum on Mass Ave., Coat Check Coffee is a go-to for locals and out-of-towners alike. The space is massive and shares its location with a host of different communities (like a daycare, a German restaurant, the YMCA, and an event space to name a few).

The team at Coat Check has long provided the highest quality coffee with out-of-this-world craftsmanship. It’s a place you literally just want to hang out in forever.

Make sure to also check out Coat Check’s cooler, older brother: Provider Coffee + Long Drinks.

Scott Recommends

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I can never pass up a pistachio latte from Coat Check. The house-made pistachio sauce uses a very specific pistachio butter from a farm in California that makes it perfectly creamy and perfectly refreshing. No matter the time of year, I bounce back and forth between getting it iced or hot because it is delicious either way.

All of their specialty lattes are incredible and deserve to be explored. If they’re out of pistachio, I’ll happily take the butterscotch latte, the ginger latte, or the lime leaf latte. Their sauces are made to perfection, and the care they bring to each drink is incredible.
