About Calvin Fletcher's

Some say “Fletcher Place.” Some just say “Fountain Square.” Nowadays we’re trying to make “Fountain Fletcher” happen. Whatever you say, just get to Calvin Fletcher’s, okay?

Calvin Fletcher’s Coffee Company has been a Fletcher Place staple for over a decade now. It’s a go-to for good local coffee (roasted in-house!) and boasts a spacious environment for meetings, homework, and hanging out with friends (so long as you don’t mind the hustle & bustle of Fletcher Place).

There’s so much to love about Calvin Fletcher’s Coffee Company. For starters, the coffee is really great. The space is also just unbeatable. The best part for me (and most of us locals), is the community fostered by the folks at Calvin Fletcher’s.

Let’s chat about the coffee, because it is so good. Roasted in-house, Calvin Fletcher’s has come a long way with their coffee game over the years, and they have rightfully earned their spot amongst the best coffee roasters in Indianapolis. They have beans roasted for everyone, and they aren’t afraid to try experimental roasts, either. We love to see it.

I’d love tell you more about what to expect from the space at Calvin Fletcher’s Coffee Company, but one of the best things about them is that you just don’t know what to expect! There’s always an eclectic mix of folks hanging out inside the Fletcher Place café. You’ll see journalists from the Indy Star interviewing neighbors about local events. You’ll see students working on homework. (My first time there a kid was practicing his tuba. It was amazing.) You’ll see a first date happening. There’s just no telling what you’ll see, and it is so great.

People always ask me what my favorite coffee shop is, and I truly never know what to say because every café offers something different for their community. Calvin Fletcher’s is one of those spaces that is truly a space for anyone and everyone, and that shows in everything they do.

Besides just making sure they take care of every guest who comes through the door, the CF team also takes care of their employees *and* others outside of the café space. First starters, you’ll notice that the tip jar for the baristas is actually donations for the Calvin Fletcher Coffee Company Charitable Foundation. Eleven months of the year, all tips go to the CFCC Charitable Foundation which gives the funds to another local non-profit organization. The twelfth month, the tips go to the baristas as a bonus. This is a double-whammy for the community because Calvin Fletcher’s pays its employees a base livable wage that doesn’t rely on tips (they always have), plus the tips go to organizations that really need it. There’s so much more to say about this—we talked about it in Batch, Issue 1—so we’ll just leave it at that for now. Highly encourage you to experience it for yourself next time you’re in Fletcher Place.

I always try something different when I go to Calvin Fletcher’s. The drip coffee is always spot on. The Calvin Pepper is a staple latte that has just enough kick to warm you up. The seasonal drinks are always really thoughtful and tasty. You really can’t go wrong with whatever you order!
